Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria have taken a new step in their energy partnership with the adoption of strategic resolutions for the implementation of the Gulf of Guinea Gas Pipeline Project. At a meeting held on February 28, 2025 in Nigeria, representatives of both countries defined key actions to ensure the supply of gas to the Punta Europa Complex, in line with the Bilateral Treaty signed on August 14, 2024.

The meeting brought together the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mining Development of Equatorial Guinea, Antonio Oburu Ondo; the Managing Director of SONAGAS GE, Segismundo Nguema Nsue; the Minister of State for Oil and Gas of Nigeria, Ekperikpe Ekpo and the CEO of the NNPC Limited Group, Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari.

The agreements reached include the creation of an Inter-Institutional Committee for project coordination, the formation of a Gas Supply Subcommittee to define the best supply options, and the commitment of both parties to move forward in guaranteeing the supply and financing of the gas pipeline.
This step forward strengthens energy cooperation between Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria, consolidating a key infrastructure for the sustainable development of the gas sector in the region.
