On August 14, Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria signed an agreement to build and operate

jointly the Gulf of Guinea Gas Pipeline during the first State Visit of Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Malabo.

This agreement will boost the commercialization of natural gas from Equatorial Guinea, improve energy security and stimulate economic development in both countries and global markets. The visit has also strengthened ties between the two countries and their commitment to regional and international cooperation. This is the second meeting between Presidents Obiang Nguema Mbasogo and Bola Ahmed Tinubu, following their first meeting at the African Union Summit in February 2024.
