During a meeting in New York on September 25, the Vice President of Equatorial Guinea, HE Nguema Obiang Mangue, announced that Chevron will invest 660 million dollars in the development of the Aseng Gas project. The meeting, organized by the United States Chamber of Commerce, served to strengthen cooperation between the Equatorial Guinean government and the American oil companies operating in the country.

Nguema Obiang Mangue highlighted the progress made since the proposals discussed in 2023, including the implementation of a new Tax Law that significantly reduces taxes to attract foreign investment. In addition, he announced measures to mediate legal disputes affecting oil companies, ensuring that companies can operate without interference blocking their accounts. Nguema Obiang Mangue also underlined the government's commitment to sustainable development and the eradication of malaria.
